RTK workers without salaries, Hadzi's Kurt's letter union: Institutions to intervene urgently, unacceptable situation

The Union Federation of Radio Television of Kosovo has been addressed with a letter, to the president, Albulen Haxhiu, and, incumbent Prime Minister Albin Kurti, demanding that institutional intervention be made concerning the non-relaunch of Kosovo Radio Television workers.
The FSRTK has expressed deep concern over the situation created with wages, saying that non-paying in the pre-priced legal term is not only an administrative or financial problem, but is direct violation of a fundamental labour right and the dignity of any worker.
This situation has become even more disturbing because it is not an isolated case. Just a month ago, on June 7th, the Union Federation was obliged to organise protests for the same reason. At that time we believed that our reaction would serve as a serious alarm for responsible institutions and that concrete measures would be taken to prevent the situation from repeating. Unfortunately, today we are facing the same offense, which proves a lack of institutional responsibility and failure to manage one of the most basic obligations to workers, is said to be on paper.
Full letter:
Direct
Acting president of the Republic of Kosovo / incumbent head of the Republic of Kosovo Assembly Mrs. Haxhiu Albulen
Acting Prime Minister of the Republic of Kosovo Z. Albin Kurti
Subject: Urgent call for institutional intervention over non-realisation of Kosovo Radio Television workers' salaries
Honored President in charge of the Republic of Kosovo / incumbent head of the Republic of Kosovo Assembly Mrs. Haxhiu Albulen
Honored Prime Minister on duty, Mr. Albin Kurti
The Union Federation of Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK), as legitimate representatives of public broadcaster workers, is addressed with deep concern over the situation created by the failure of RTK workers' salaries, which, even on July 9th 2026, have yet to be executed.
Failure to pay in the pre-priced legal term is not only an administrative or financial problem, but it is a direct violation of a fundamental work right and the dignity of any worker. The salary is a labour-earned compensation guaranteed with the legislation in force of the Republic of Kosovo and international standards for the protection of workers' rights.
Unfortunately, today we are facing the same offense, which proves lack of institutional responsibility and failure to manage one of the most basic obligations to workers.
The Union Federation considers it unacceptable for the public broadcaster of the Republic of Kosovo to function in conditions where workers are forced to cut their salaries without any clear deadlines, without transparency and without official communication from the governing bodies. This situation affects not only the well-being of workers and their families, but also undermines confidence in public institutions and jeopardises RTK's normal functioning.
Moreover, the RTK Board and Management have failed to exercise their responsibilities in transparency, professionalism and accountability. The lack of public information, silence in the face of this situation, and the failure of a concrete solution are unacceptable and conflicts with the standards of good governance that should characterize a public institution.
For this reason, we urge you, within your constitutional and institutional competencies, to take the necessary actions to ensure the urgent solution of this situation and to ensure that RTK workers receive their salaries immediately.
At the same time, we seek to ensure institutional accountability for the causes that have led to this situation, as well as to ensure that such cases are not repeated in the future. No one should be held accountable when basic workers' rights are violated and the public broadcaster's functioning is at risk.
We inform you that, in the absence of an immediate solution, the RTK Union Federation will continue without any hesitation with the escalation of union action and legal procedures company near competent institutions. All legal and union provisions guaranteed by law for the protection of workers' rights will be used. Any consequence that can be reflected in RTK's functioning will be the full responsibility of the Board and Management.
RTK workers will not accept that salary delays become common practice. They will not pay the price of inadequacy, negligence or institutional mismanagement. Their dignity is not negotiable, and respect for their rights cannot depend on financial or administrative circumstances.
The Union Federation remains committed to dialogue and institutional co-operation, but is also determined to defend with any legal means the interests of the workers it represents. We expect immediate reaction and action by the institutions of the Republic of Kosovo, in line with your responsibility for protecting constitutional order, legitimacy and citizens' rights.
With respect,
Head of the Union Federation of Kosovo Radio Television (RTK)
