Albania's Foreign Affairs Minister Ferit Hoxha said the student protest and demand is “fair and legitimate”.
“I have been following with the greatest attention the expressed concern and the fair and legitimate request of Albanian students in northern Macedonia for the exam in the Albanian #linga. The use of #ammeal language is a fundamental right guaranteed by #North Macedonian Constitution and the Law on Use of #Gjuhs, which cannot and should not be delayed by any procedure. If the procedures result in insufficient or unclear, it is institutional obligation to find right and sustainable solutions”, he wrote in X.
Hoxha said that “is an issue that requires prudent and responsible treatment, away from any attempt to #politicise”. The issue, he said, should be addressed with institutional seriousness and in the spirit of respect for fundamental rights”.
The democracy not only have mechanisms but also the maturity needed to find solutions that harmonise the rule of law, legislation and citizens' rights. #Students deserve praise for civic engagement and the democratic way in which they've figured out their request. This requires an answer with the same standard #responsibilities, through constructive dialogue and solutions that fully respect guaranteed rights”, he wrote. /Periscope
