The duo held a joint media conference during yesterday, as they were asked how Albania and Croatia would behave, given the declaration signed for military co-operation among the three states in the event of any attacks on Kosovo.
The Albanian minister gave an interesting answer to the issue, saying that as a NATO member, it would harmonise any action with the Alliance, but added how the state would act differently.
“Albania and Croatia are harmonised with NATO and any action they take will be in line with NATO. But that does not mean that we as a state will not take anything in defence of Kosovo. The declaration between Croatia, Kosovo and Albania is signed with the will of the Albanian and Croatian peoples. Of course, Kosovo aims to integrate into the EU, into NATO and in all security instruments, so there is no risk of”.
“Both Croatia and Albania consider that security in this region is in the common interest of all states in the region”, said Albanian Defence Minister Ermal Nufi, has reported Croatian media “Vecernji List”, broadcast Klankosova.tv.
Meanwhile, his Croatian counterpart, Ivan Anuspi, on the same issue, stressed that the declaration signed between the three countries does not represent a military alliance.
This statement includes no military alliance. It is a co-operation statement, not a military alliance”, he said, as he added: “I remember that since 2010 there has been a much broader, more comprehensive and detailed agreement with Serbia, which Serbia is silent about. We have that agreement and it's in effect since 2010. The declaration we have signed includes no military alliance, no war or war activities. This statement is exclusively at the level of technical co-operation, exchange of knowledge and experience, and that's what we do”, Anussic said.
To the tripartite agreement for co-operation in the field of defence, Serbia has consistently reacted sharply, calling it a “calation against Serbia”. This has been consistently denied by the parties.
