U.S.A. and Iran get a war-end plan from mediators

The United States and Iran have taken up a plan to end the hostilities, which could take effect Monday, and reopen the Hormuz Strait, a well-known source of proposals said Monday. A framework for the outcome of the hostilities was drafted by Pakistan and exchanged with [...]

A framework for the outcome of the hostilities has been drafted by Pakistan and exchanged with Iran and the US overnight has said the source, outlining a two-level approach: an immediate ceasefire, followed by a comprehensive agreement.

“For all elements must agree today”, the source has said, adding that initial understanding will be structured as a memorandum of understanding, electronicly finalised via Pakistan, which is the only channel of communication in the talks.

Axios has reported the first Sunday that the United States, Iran and regional mediators were discussing a possible 45-day ceasefire as part of a two-stage agreement that could lead to the permanent end of the war, citing American, Israeli and regional sources.

The source has told Reuters that Pakistani Army Chief Asim Munir has been in contact with US Vice-President JD Vance and Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Aracchi

Under the proposal, the ceasefire would enter into force immediately, reopening Hormuz's Strait, while 1550 days would be provided to finalise a broader solution. The deal, dubbed temporarily “The Islamabad Agreement”, would include a regional framework for the strait, with final face-to-face talks in Islamabad.

There has been no immediate response from American and Iranian officials.

Iranian officials have earlier told Reuters that Tehran is seeking a permanent ceasefire with guarantees that it will no longer be attacked by the US and Israel. They have said Iran has received messages from mediator, including Pakistan, Turkey and Egypt.

The final agreement is expected to include commitments by Iran not to pursue nuclear weapons in exchange for easing sanctions and releasing frozen assets, the source has said.

Two Pakistani sources have added that Iran has not yet been engaged, despite intensified civil and military efforts.

“Iran has not reacted yet to”, a source has said, adding that proposals supported by Pakistan, China and the United States for a temporary ceasefire have not yet taken any commitments.

The latest diplomatic initiative comes amid the escalation of hostilities, which have raised concerns about disruptions of shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, a critical artery to global oil supplies.

US President Donald Trump has called for a quick end to the conflict in recent days, warning consequences if a ceasefire is not reached within a short term.

The conflict has increased instability in energy markets, with businessmen following closely any development that may affect the currents through the strait.
