This step comes after former Venezuelan President Nicolaás Maduro was captured by American forces in January and sent to New York to face charges of drug and weapons trafficking, which he has denied.
According to official statements, both sides aim to promote political stability, economic recovery and dialogue in Venezuela through the restoration of relations.
The US Embassy in Caracas, closed since 2019, has been reopened and parties have voiced readiness for a new phase of co-operation and dialogue based on mutual respect.
This development is considered a major change in relations between the two countries, which for years have had political and diplomatic tensions.
