Begaj in Kiev for the Ukraine-South East Europe summit: unconditional support must go beyond statements

Republika President Bajram Begaj attended the Ukraine Summit- Southeast Europe in Kiev, as well as at ceremonies for the Ukraine Statehood Day.
The head of state reaffirmed Albania's support for sovereignty, territorial integrity, recovery and European integration of Ukraine.
“Albania has been clear and steadfast in its support for Ukraine. We stand in support of your internationally recognised independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity. We also support the achievement of comprehensive, just and lasting peace respecting the United Nations Charter, international law and legitimate rights of the Ukrainian people”, the head of State stated.
The messages the president of the Republic conveyed to the summit focused on strengthening the co-operation for security and stability in the face of common threats; on supporting the recovery and transparent and sustainable reconstruction of Ukraine, as well as on advancing the European perspective of Ukraine and our region, viewing enlargement as a strategic investment for peace, stability and common European future.
In the presence of Southeast European leaders participating in the European Commission Summit and President Ursula von der Leyeen, President Begaj demanded that support for Ukraine be accompanied by concrete steps.
Our support, President Begaj stressed, must go beyond statements. It must be translated into practical cooperation. That's why today's summit matters. It allows us to strengthen political co-ordination, deepen regional solidarity and identify concrete areas for joint action”.
The summit ended with a joint declaration where leaders reaffirmed the unity of Southeast European countries with Ukraine and praised its security as part of the security of all Europe.
During the Ukraine Statehood Day ceremony, President Begaj honoured the resistance of the Ukrainian people.
On this solemn day, let us also honor the courage of the Ukrainian people, soldiers, civilians, families, doctors, teachers, rescue teams and volunteers, who continue to witness a tremendous force in the face of suffering. Their endurance is inspired to all who believe in freedom and righteousness. ”- the president of the Republic said.
Republika Srpska President Bajram Begaj during his stay in Kiev held a face-to-face meeting with President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The two leaders discussed strengthening bilateral co-operation, supporting Ukraine in recovery, security and economic development, as well as opportunities for new agreements.
President Begaj reaffirmed Albania's full solidarity with Ukraine and commitment to strengthening relations between the two countries.
