(an hour ago)German Bundestag MP from the ranks of Germany's Social Democrat Party (SPD), Addis Ahmetovic, has reacted to Serbian Minister Snezana Paunovic's statements, naming them as incompatible with European values.
Ahmetovic has said that the countries of the Western Balkans, including Serbia, have the country in the European Union, but has stressed that nationalism and hate speech have no place in the European community of values.
The countries of the Western Balkans belong to the EU. That includes Serbia. But a spirit of nationalism and hatred, which comes from some governments, has no place in our European set of values”, Ahmetovic wrote.
According to him, such an approach is undermining the European Union's enlargement process and efforts to make Union stronger.
This mentality topped the process for the EU to grow and become even more powerful. The appropriate sign from Belgrade would be the immediate dismissal of Minister Paunovic”, the German deputy has declared.
His reaction comes after statements by Serbian Minister of State Administration and Local Self-government Snezana Paunovic for"ethnic cleansing", which has prompted numerous reactions to its Kosovo-related positions.
