Today at 23:59, exactly five hours later, the deadline for declaring their wealth ends. This process, which is held annually, began on March 1st and ends today on March 31st.
Although the deadline is running out, there are still public officials who have not fulfilled their legal obligation.
As the Agency for Prevention of Corruption has announced through a media communique, by 4: 00 p.m., 9 thousand and 825 public officials, or a total of 94.73% of public officials, have completed the statement.
According to the APK, 276 public officials or 2.66% of them have started and are under way, while 271 Sosh or 2.61% have not yet started this statement.
A total of 10,372 tasked officials, a number of officials have still failed to meet this obligation, while time for action is being cut by 11x1>, the APK said.
The director of the Corruption Prevention Agency, Yll Buleskaj, has recalled that any inaction within this deadline brings direct legal consequences, including the pronunciation of fines and the initiative of further procedures.
The statement is not an option, but a legal obligation and responsibility to the public. We invite all officials to complete the statement without any delay. Disrespecting the deadline brings legal consequences. Time is running out. Do it now”, point it to Buleskaj.
The APK has announced that the respective teams are available for custody, technical support and clarification needed by the end of the deadline, however, stresses that the responsibility for timely statements remains individual and untransmittable for each public official.
After the deadline ends today, there will be no further deadline for public officials to declare property. If they fail to carry it out on schedule, public officials will face legal consequences.
“After the deadline ends, the agency, in line with legal competencies, will take appropriate actions against officials who have not met the obligation, including the pronunciation of fines for delay in statements, which are worth 30% of the monthly wage”, the APK said yesterday about news.net.
