New political stalemate for Kosovo president comes response from German government

Germany has reacted to the new institutional crisis in Kosovo. According to the German government, this is also important for the continuation of the normalisation dialogue led by the European Union between Kosovo and Serbia. Serbia and Kosovo's EU integration can only be achieved through this normalisation dialogue”, Giese said, dw reported.
The reaction comes after Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani dissolved the Kosovo Assembly. Earlier, the Kosovo Parliament failed to elect the country's president. The institutional situation is now expected to be clarified through Constitutional Court decisions. If the Constitutional Court confirms the president's decision, Kosovo could face the third parliamentary elections in just over a year.
Germany has political interest in a stable Kosovo, because security in the Western Balkans is considered strategically important for Europe. Since 1999, Germany has been participating in NATO's Kosovo Force (KFOR) mission and can currently dismantle up to 400 Bundeswehr soldiers in the country in case of need.
