PDK: Taking immediate measures to reduce oil prices, government has abandoned citizens

Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Arben Mustafa has accused the Kurti Government of deepening the economic crisis in the country by neglecting the rising price of oil, which is affecting the rise in prices of other products and services. MP Mustafa, at a media conference, said the priority of this irresponsible government [...]
MP Mustafa, at a media conference, said the priority of this irresponsible government is only to collect taxes at any cost, which are reserved to be used as additionals and campaign subsidies.
Today, for each liter of oil, the state receives about 60 cents in taxes: 36 cents excise and 24 cents T VSH. So when a citizen is supplied with oil, at the price of $1.80 per litre, he does not pay the price of oil, but he also pays the state 60 cents in taxes. This is a burden that should be eased in this time of crisis. The temporary withdrawal of these taxes, in whole or in part, would mean an immediate decrease in the price of oil and the curbing of the chain effect of rising prices”, he added.
Mustafa stressed that after price hikes in 2022, Kosovo cannot afford another wave of its citizens' poverty.
The production of the oil price does not affect only those supplied to the pump. It increases the cost of transportation, production, and therefore the prices of all the products we consume. On the eve of the agricultural season, this increase directly strikes our farmers, forcing them to produce at greater expense and, therefore, expensive their products”, the deputy stressed PDK.
The PDK has called for immediate tax cuts for oil derivatives, so that the price will reflect the citizens' economic reality and not only the fiscal interest of the state.
“concrete and direct measures for the protection of farmers and local producers, including additional subsidies and support for basic inputs in this critical season. An emergency, clear and measurable plan for coping with price hikes guaranteeing stability for families and businesses. So, an emergency anti-inflammation plan, with concrete targets for price stabilisation and coordinated measures among ministries. Control and transparency in the market to prevent abuses, with increased inspections of prices, monitoring of the supply chain, penalising secret agreements and artificial increases, because many price hikes are not only from the market, but also from abuses”, Mustafa called.
He asked the Government that the energy, which he is spending on creating and deepening political crisis, focus on the concrete citizenship of the country's citizens and economy.
