Kosovo police have announced they have undertaken increased “security measures” on the eve of the playoff match between Kosovo and Turkey for qualifications at the 2026 World Championship.
Before, during and after the match, police said they would be more intensively engaged “to ensure public order and security”.
Kosovo Police inform citizens that by March 31st, 2026, starting at 20:45, the Fadil Vokry Stadium will host the final play-off match for FIFA World Cup 2026 between Kosovo and Turkey. Given the particular importance of this match, added security measures have been taken in co-operation with relevant institutions and organisers. Kosovo police, along with support structures, commit themselves to ensuring order and public security before, during and after the event is held”, the report said.
Police said there will be increased police presence in several areas of the capital and that there will be temporary “deadlocks of several roads.
“There will be increased police presence in the stadium, in the city and in three “Fan Zone”: With the aim of moving delegations, relief in circulation and match development, there will be temporary roadblocks -- local and Nacional -- as follows: Tring Ismajli, Agim Ramadani, Eqrem Chabey, main Semaforat, Bill Clinton Avenue, District of the Bus station, Railway Street, Tirana Street (to stadium), while leaving the stadium to the airport: Tirana Street, Arberia, street. Ahmet Krasniqi and Highway (on airport)”.
Other “ways have temporary restrictions on Permitrin around the stadium, reg. Luan Haradinaj (as far as the Justice Ministry) and the line. Fehmi Agan. These jams will be temporary and will be realised at intervals, depending on official movements and relief needs on road traffic”, the announcement says.
Police call on citizens to respect the guidelines of police officials on the ground.
Kosovo Police appeal to citizens who: Respect police officials' instructions on the ground, use alternative routes when possible, and contribute to maintaining order and public safety. The security and prosperity of this sporting event is a common responsibility. We invite citizens to support and respect public order”. It says on notice.
