Defence Minister Israel Katz has declared a state of emergency throughout the country, warning citizens of missile attacks and fears of Iran.
The military has called on citizens to respect emergency guidelines, while announcing that tens of thousands of militias have been called for service, including to strengthen the country's land borders.
Police have appealed to avoid unnecessary travel so that security and emergency vehicles can move freely.
The US Embassy in Jerusalem has advised its employees to take refuge in the country, Reuters reported.
Meanwhile, people have been seen rushing to buy food and to pull money as explosions from the rocket capture echoed through the city.
