Granit Plava shocks court: Behgjet Pacolli was aware of the murder of Liridona Ademiaj

A serious and deeply shocking development has emerged in the courtroom today, during the testimony of accused Granit Plava, in one of the most macabre cases that has affected public opinion in Kosovo in recent years. During his defence, Plava has made a statement that is expected to trigger strong waves of reactions. He claimed that during the planned assassination of the late Liridona Ademiaj, the other accused Naim Murshel had been told that Behgjet Pacolli was aware of this crime.
According to this confession, Mursel had given assurances to Plav that because of the power and influence that Naim Musel and Behxhet Pacolli have, he would not stand more than two years in prison, thus creating a frightening perception of a deliberate scheme and based on belief in immunity from justice.
This statement, if proven or even if he is seriously investigated, raises the case to a completely different level from a serious family murder to a potentially deep political and institutional implications.
The case of Liridona Ademiaj's murder has been one of the most serious and controversial events in the country since the beginning. It was initially reported as a robbery that ended with fatality, but investigations revealed an alleged organised scenario, where her husband stood at the center.
Today's statement by Granit Plava is expected to spur immediate reactions and demands for official clarification, especially if Behgjet Pacolli's name is included in investigations or handled by justice organs.
The event continues to remain an open plague for public opinion -- an occasion that not only shook for its brutality but already risks reaching even greater proportions, with claims affecting high levels of influence and trust in the justice system.
The judicial process is under way, while any such declaration should be carefully handled by competent organs.
Will Behxhet Pacolli be invited as a witness in the trial or will begin an investigation, remains to be seen in the days ahead.
