The decision, announced Saturday, comes after the US and Israel undertook military attacks on Iran, while Tehran retaliated with attacks throughout the region.
The “following the escalation of hostilities between the US and Iran on February 28th, there is a constant threat from attacks with fears and rockets from Iran, as well as significant disruptions of commercial flights”, said the updated travel report.
Bahrain is the headquarters of the United States Navy Fifth Fleet, which was targeted by Iran on Saturday.
Permission to leave is the first since the launch of military action. On Friday, the US State Department authorised Israel's emergency personnel to evacuate, while last Monday it ordered the evacuation of emergency personnel from Lebanon.
