74% of women out of labour market, organisations demand budget from Government

A coalition of civil society organisations has sent the Government of Kosovo a joint public declaration, through which it requires that the 2026 budget and the future medium-term spending framework actively address the needs of all citizens and obstacles restricting women's participation in the labour market. [...]
According to these organisations, Kosovo's budget must come up against the various needs of women and men.
Recent investigations by the Kosovo Women's Network ( S. GK) and Caritas Zviceran in Kosovo confirm structural barriers currently leave 74% of women out of the labour market. While male participation in the workforce is around 60%, women's participation stands at only 26%. The exception creates a self-enforced lack of workforce that prevents Kosovo's economic prosperity. We call on leading institutions to move from word to deed, beyond <x1-responsions on paper”, and invest in six critical areas”.
Organizations simultaneously require a new labour law, investments in care services, accessal transport security in rural countries, institutionalisation of responsible gender budgeting, and insurance accountability in the reform agenda. /Periscope
