Afghanistan has launched attacks on Pakistani military positions along the border in response to last week's Pakistani air strikes, Taliban authorities announced.
Afghanistan's military Corps office in the East said in a statement that “severe clashes” were launched late Thursday, “as a response to recent air strikes committed by Pakistani forces in the Nangarhar provinces and the Pact”.
“In response to repeated provocations and violations by Pakistani military circles, wide-scale offensive operations against Pakistani positions and military installations along line Durand” were launched, the thaleban government's spokesman, Zbullah Mujaheded, wrote in an X post.
The 2 thousandth and 611km border (1,622 miles) between the two countries is known as the Durand Line, which Afghanistan has not formally recognised, international media broadcast Clankosova.tv.
There was no immediate reaction from Pakistan to these reports, writes Al Jazeera.
On Sunday, the Pakistani Army carried out attacks along the border with Afghanistan, claiming to have killed at least 70 fighters. Afghanistan rejected this claim, claiming that civilians, including women and children, had been killed.
