Former President Hashim Thaci's lawyer, Luka Misetiq, has arrived near Specialised Chambers in The Hague an hour before the start of the session, where the closing declaration will begin.
Today, the closing word of the former president's defence, Thaci, begins in The Hague.
On the third day of the final phase of the largest judicial process in The Hague, as has been announced, it will begin to expand its closing statement by 9am.
The Specialised Prosecutor's Office has closed yesterday's final word, followed by the defender of the victims.
The ZPS has said it has accepted, as it claims, over five thousand material evidence and interviewed over 130 witnesses.
The chief specialised prosecutor, Kimberly West, has sought jail sentences of 45 years for the four-year KLA, totaling 180 years in prison.
Also, during yesterday's day, the prosecution has claimed that former President Hashim Thaci “has lied several times to international”, citing James Rubin's testimony to Wesley Clark.
For the request of the Prosecutor's Office for the 45-year prison sentence has reacted to the country's leaders, but also the region's leaders, saying it does not rely on any international standards and that the Kosovo Liberation Army did the right fight.
The presentation of concluding statements marks the final phase of the largest judicial process in Kosovo's Specialised Chambers in The Hague.
The prosecution, the defender of the victims, defence teams and former KLA leaders, during this and next week have the possibility of addressing the court for the last time with their statements in the process.
Hashim Thaci, Kadri Veselini, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi are facing charges brought by the Specialised Prosecutor's Office, which they have described as groundless. Even the defence has dismissed these charges and argued the KLA had no organised command structure.
The trial against them has begun on April 3, 2023, nearly three years after confirming the indictment since former KLA leaders are held at The Hague detention centre. /Periscope
