(6 months ago)The Constitutional Prosecutor in Gjakova has announced that, in co-operation with the Kosovo Police, Regional Directorate in Gjakova, he has taken investigative action over allegations of counterfeiting the vote results during the voting counting process within political subjects for the election of MPs from the Republic of Kosovo in the Malisheva municipality. A total of 58 persons have been interviewed under the investigation, of which 15 leaders and 43 commissioners. All suspects charged for criminal work “Forging the results of the vote”, according to Article 216 paragraph 2 of the Republic of Kosovo Penal Code, Periscopi reports.
Under the State Prosecutor's decision, the 15 leaders have been detained for 48 hours, while the prosecution has filed a request to the competent court for appointing the detention measure against them. Meanwhile, 43 commissioners, after collecting evidence and interviews, will be investigated in regular procedure.
The Constitutional Prosecutor in Gjakova has stressed that she remains committed to protecting the integrity of the election process and in dealing with priorities of criminal acts that violate the free and democratic vote of citizens.
