Ramaj: Medtech in 2025 alone received over 21 million Euro contracts and tenders

Health journalist Saranda Ramaj has pointed out how the drug company Meittech has benefited millions of euros in contracts from tenders, resulting in more than 35% of the entire USKKUK drug budget in one year, Periscop reports.

Ramaj has added that this situation should be considered an alarm for institutions, as it is considered a monopoly.

The argument that this is about patented drugs does not stand. Patenta doesn't justify the dominance of the public market.

After vetting in the KRPP, it turns out that the drug company Meditech has benefited 21,241,692.33 euros in contracts from USKKUK tenders/ IT WAS only in 2025. Some contracts are several years old. That amount does not include contracts won by the Ministry of Health, which has a separate budget and autonomous by USKKUK.

Under the 2025 Budget Law, the KSF has about 70m euros dedicated to goods and services. If this amount of about 60m euros is spent on drugs, then it turns out that a single company has benefited over 35% of the entire budget for USKUK medicines, within a year.

In any normal and functional public procurement system, such a level of concentration would be considered extreme red flag for monopolist risk, regardless of the reasoning.
