Also happening: 33 former candidates seek investigations and recounting local elections, but election material has been destroyed

Independent candidate for Ferizaj's Municipal Assembly, Bashkim Fazliu, has indicated that he and 33 former candidates have submitted requests to the Constitutional Prosecutor at Ferizaj and the Central Election Commission, demanding expansion of investigations and extraordinary verifiating measures concerning the election process, including the possibility of re-counting votes. “We [...]

“We have handed over 33 former mayoral candidates for the October 12th municipal elections from Ferizaj, and very soon I believe in other municipalities, we submitted two requests today. We submitted the first request to the Founding Prosecutor's Office in Ferizaj and for knowledge. We have applied for expansion of the investigations that are under way for December 28th, since it is the same nature, the same commissioners are. We have requested that because of the repeated fashion then there is the suspicion that the same commissioners have been proven to have committed violations on December 28th, there is the basis for doubt that the same could misuse the vote or will of citizens of the October 12th” elections, Fazliu said.

But the votes for which these 33 former candidates are demanding investigations have been destroyed.

Thus has CEC spokesman Valmir Elez confirmed.

With the aim of law enforcement, the CEC, within the legal deadline has destroyed local election materials 2025. From this process, the location materials, which, the State Prosecutor and Courts, are being excluded. Also, as provided by law, the CEC has certified the results of local elections 2025, following the completion of all procedures at the polling and counting centres, as well as after the PZAP deployment and the Supreme Court for complaints of candidates and subjects”, Elesi told Periskopi.
