British ambassador goes to Kurti in office, urges institution creation

United Kingdom Ambassador to Kosovo Jonathan Hargreaves has visited incumbent Prime Minister Albin Kurti, writes Periscopi.

According to the ZKM announcement, the topic of discussion has been the formation of institutions.

“Discussed for recent developments, the importance of completing the election process and forming institutions as early as possible, as well as on topics of bilate interest”, the report says.

Otherwise, in the December 28th election, the Vetevendosje Movement has come out victorious with over 51% of the vote, and is expected to have 57 seats in Kosovo's 10th Parliament legislature.

On January 9th, the CEC had announced it had completed the counting process of all votes. Regular votes were counted in municipal counting centres, while other votes, including those from the diaspora at the Counting and Results Centre.

However, the re-counting process of the vote has highlighted disagreement in the results of candidates for MPs in the Drensa municipality, prompting Pristina's Constitutional Prosecutor to authorize Kosovo Police for launching further investigations.

How did the CEC observe vote manipulations?

Police are tasked with collecting information and evidence to determine whether there has been criminal offenses and who can be responsible for them. Allegations are linked to differences consistent between initial results and those following the recount.

Similar investigations are under way in other municipalities in the country, including Ferizaj and Malisheva, while the Central Election Commission has ordered a full recount of regular votes in some areas due to disagreements in candidates' votes.

The worst case so far has been marked in Prizren, where 109 people were detained last week under suspicion of manipulation of the election result. The court later appointed the month-long detention measure for 23 of them./Periscopi/
