The victim is Albanian national Marko Beka, 45, resident of Geel and a taxi driver.
He was shot to death by firearms on Friday evening, about 9:00 p.m., near a church - after park in the village of Larum, while he was in conversation with several passengers. Despite the intervention of emergency services, Beka could not survive the wounds. He left his wife and three children behind.
According to Belgian authorities, it is suspected that the event has begun following a debate that has come out of control. The prosecution suggested that the victim “had not been selected by chance”, but the exact motive of the crime remains unclear. It's not confirmed whether it's a spontaneous crash or a deliberate act.
The area was surrounded for several hours, while investigators, criminal laboratory, and legal physician arrived in the country. Antverp's prosecution has stated that the investigations are continuing intensively to clarify the role of each suspect and full circumstances of the murder. /Periscope
