C.”, cheering slogans against President Trump and holding posters with such messages as: “Trump must now leave”, “Liron Washington D. C.” and “contain Tyriani”.
“I am here to protest the invasion of Washington, D.C.,” said Alex Laufer. “We are opposing the authoritarian regime and we have to get the federal police and the National Guard off our streets. ”
The deployment came after Trump claimed that crime was destroying the city and that intervention was needed to restore the law, order and public security”.
President Trump has also placed the capital's Metropolitan Police Department under federal direct control and has sent federal law enforcement personnel, including immigration and Customs Implementation Agents, to control the city's streets a move that critics have described as federal overstepping, writes Reuters.
