Just five days after Edi Rama called for early elections in Tirana's City Hall, Socialist advisers have been put in motion.
Abc News teaches that members of the Municipal Council have been called today at 5: 00 p.m. at a meeting at the pink headquarters. Although they have not received information on the reasons for the meeting, they believe Erjon Veliaj will be discussed.
“We must make the political decision to pave the way for elections for a new mayor in Tirana. ”
At the Socialist Party Assembly, Prime Minister Edi Rama urged Socialist members of the Municipal Council to dismiss Erion Veliaj, who, since February 10th of this year, is under the measure of prison arrest handed down by the JCKKO, after being charged with corruption by the SPAK. He nominated Ogerta Manastirliu as a candidate for mayor of the capital.
But there is still no date when the municipal council can meet, but the law predicts the meeting should be announced 5 days ago. The law envisions the launch of the chairman's dismissal proceedings if the latter does not appear in office for three months without interruption and should receive the votes of most councilors.
The location next belongs to the council of ministers that set the dismissal. But if Erjon Veliaj complained to the Constitutional Court within 15 days, the decision would be suspended until a court decision. If not, it opens the way for President Bajram Begaj to decree early elections.
