According to Euronews Albania, in the letter to the Council, Veliaj describes the absence as involuntarily and the result of a “disproportional security measure”, which, according to him, has paralyzed the capital's governance and seriously affected the constitutional mandate given by citizens.
This measure has not only isolated citizen Erion Veliaj, but has paralysed the capital's governance, leaving more than 1 million citizens of Tirana without elected leaders,”, reported in his letter.
Veliaj accuses the judicial system of suspending his mandate without a final verdict of guilt and says he will bring the case to the European Court for Human Rights.
