Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andriy Sajra reacted sharply to Russian President Vladimir Putin's proposal for a meeting with Voldymyr Zelensky in Moscow, calling it unacceptable.
Commenting on Putin's statement from the conference in Beijing, where he invited Zelensky to talks in the Russian capital, S praised said there are a number of alternative and serious options.
He stressed that at least seven countries have expressed their readiness to host a summit of peace between Ukraine and Russia, among them Austria, the Vatican, Switzerland, Turkey and three Gulf states.
These are serious proposals and President Zelenskiy is ready for such a meeting at any time. However, Putin continues to delay everything by presenting deliberately unacceptable proposals”, said Sihbika in an X network post, the KP reported.
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy concluded that the “alone added pressure could force Russia to finally commit seriously to the” peace process.
On August 22nd, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said the meeting between Putin and Zelensky could be held only after a detailed negotiating plan is prepared, which is currently not the case.
At the same time, Guardian reported that US President Donald Trump intends to allow Russia and Ukraine to organise a meeting between their leaders, thus withdrawing from negotiations to end the war./Periscopi/
