Ukraine's Air Defense Forces have reported that during the past night, 112 of the 142 drones released by Russia over Ukrainian territory have collapsed. The announcement has been made public through an official statement by the Ukrainian Armed Forces Air Force on the telegram platform.
According to the statement, 26 fears have managed to hit targets in seven different regions of the country, while in one case, fragments of a pilot-free aircraft have fallen into a civilian area, causing unidentified material damage so far.
Ukraine's Energy Ministry confirmed that one of the targets of the attacks was a thermal power plant in the Kiev region, raising concerns about the sustainability of electricity supply and heating ahead of the cold season.
In her statement, the ministry stresses that the aim of the attacks was to deliberately harm the daily lives of Ukrainian citizens and to leave homes, educational institutions and health without energy.
Emergency teams and energy specialists have been sent to the scene to assess the damage and restore infrastructure function.
On the other hand, Russia's Defence Ministry has reported that during the night seven Ukrainian fears have collapsed over four Russian regions -- three in the Tula region, two in Smolensk and one in Bryansk and Ryazan respectively.
According to the statement published by Russian authorities, no casualties have been reported and material damages have been limited.
This new wave of air strikes, considered one of the largest in recent weeks, emphasises intensifying confrontation between the two countries, increasing tensions and pressure on defence systems on both sides. /Periscopi/
