German Rheinmetall weapons concert plans to produce artillery missiles for Ukrainian armed forces at a new factory in Ukraine.
This was announced by Ukrainian Defence Minister Danies Schmyhal.
“To build a new factory to produce Rheinmetal missiles for Ukrainian armed forces was assigned a parcel of land in a safe Ukrainian region”, Shmyhal wrote on the X platform.
Kiev is urging its Western partners to support the expansion of the local arms-making industry to deter Russian forces.
The Russian invasion of Ukraine has been under way for four years.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced he has discussed with US envoy Keith Kellogg the possibilities for developing joint arms production and imposing further sanctions against Russia from Washington.
“We discussed various ways for co-operation on how to achieve true peace and ensure the security of Ukraine”, Zelensky wrote after their meeting in Kiev on the Telegram message application.
The “Piece of the talks was strong bilateral agreements for the joint production of fears and weapons we have proposed to the US. We expect a positive response from the United States.” / DW/ Periscopi/
