A court in Istanbul ordered YouTuber's detention Bogac Soydemir, programme host “Soguk Savas”, and his guests, rapper Enes Akgunduz, after authorities argued that the programme contained a baton related to Hadith “verra is the mother of all evil”.
Prosecutors said their comments risked inciting hostility on religious grounds.
The two men apologised after the broadcast and refused to make any mistakes when they appeared in court Tuesday, Reuters reports.
“I had no intention of provoking hatred”, Soydemir said, adding that he removed the video after it was announced on the issue and apologised in his accounts in social media.
Akgunduz has also dismissed any suggestions for deliberate offenses and said their conversation was misinterpreted.
This case comes after the detention of four cartoonists from the weekly satirical Leman magazine for a cartoon that is thought to describe Prophets Muhamed and Moses, whom President Recep Tayip Erdogan has considered a dirty “approval”. /Periscopi
