American President Donald Trump wants drug producers to lower their prices in the US, so he will push them to increase prices in other countries to compensate for their profits, Trade Secretary Howard Lutnick said on Friday.
The president means you drug producers can't sell here unless you sell there at a higher price. Do not be willing to sell them at such a low price”, Lutnick said on Friday at the “The Axios Show”.
Lutnick's comments are the latest in a series of statements by the Trump administration aimed at putting pressure on pharmaceutical companies to lower drug prices for Americans.
The president's main effort focuses on convincing drug producers to offer the same price in the United States as they offer in Europe and other sister countries, the so-called “Most Vulnerated Combbit”.
Trump has repeatedly said that American patients are subsidizing their counterparts elsewhere. Americans pay almost three times as much for drugs as people in comparable countries in 2022. / KP/ Periscopi/
