During a call with Ukrainian President Voldymyr Zelensky and several European leaders, under the “Coalation of the Gates”, United States President Donald Trump urged European countries to stop buying oil from Russia and to increase economic pressure on China. The news was confirmed by a White House official.
Trump stressed that the revenues Russia profits from the sale of fuels in Europe are being used to finance the war in Ukraine. According to him, during just one year, Moscow has collected about 1.1 billion euros from oil exports to the European Union.
In addition, 79-year-old asked European leaders to react more harshly to China, due to its support for Russia's military efforts, reports resources.
The call, which took place at around 8: 00 a.m., occurred at a moment when the process of achieving peace in Ukraine has slowed significantly, which officials say has increased the American leader's sense of anger and has prompted him to consider other possible steps.
In this context, Trump is said to have informally warned Russian President Vladimir Putin, declaring that the US response will depend on decisions that the Kremlin will make.
The call was organised at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron and other European leaders, who invited Trump to discuss joint strategies in dealing with Russian aggression in Ukraine. /Periscope/
