A senior image of Hamas has told the BBC that the group will likely reject Donald Trump's peace plan for Gaza, saying it “serves the interests of Israel” and “fixed those of the Palestinian people”.

The character said Hamas is unlikely to agree to disarm and hand over his weapons a key condition of the Trump plan.

It is also said that Hamas opposes the deployment of an International Stabilisation Force (ISF) in Gaza, which he views as a new form of invasion.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accepted Trump's plan during talks at the White House on Monday. Hamas has yet to give an official answer.

Qatar's Foreign Ministry has said Hamas is studying the White House proposal “responsible”.

A senior Palestinian official with knowledge of Hamas' talks told the BBC that they include leadership of the group both inside and outside Gaza.

The group's military commander in the territory, Ez al-Din al-hadad, is thought to be determined to continue the war instead of accepting the offered plan. Hamas' personalities outside Gaza recently found themselves neglected in discussions, as they have no direct control over the hostages.

Hamas' talks, which are expected to last several days, include other Palestinian factions.

The armed group Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), which participated in the October 7th attack and previously held several Israeli hostages, rejected the plan Tuesday.

For Hamas, a key point is thought to be that the plan requires them to hand over all hostages immediately by providing the only negotiating currency.

Even with Donald Trump's support for the plan, there is a lack of confidence that Israel will not resume its military operations after taking hostages, especially after trying to kill Hamas' leadership in Doha earlier this month, in opposition to the US.

Furthermore, a map of Gaza shared by the Trump administration shows what appears to be a planned buffer zone along Gaza's southern border with Egypt. It is unclear how this will be managed, but if Israel is involved, it will likely also be a point of disagreement.

Moreover, since agreeing to the plan Monday evening, Netanyah appears to have rejected some of the conditions set out on it.

In a video divided on X, he insists the Israeli army will be able to stay in parts of Gaza and that Israel said it would strongly resist “a Palestinian state.

This goes against terms of the Trump framework, which defines the Israeli forces' full withdrawal and says that once the plan is completed, there could be a “reliable path to self-determination and Palestinian citizenship”.

Within Gaza, Palestinians widely supported the plan, but only because it would lead to the outcome of the war.

resident Khadar Abu Kweik told the BBC: “The American plan has bad clauses, but I support it because it will stop the war and get rid of Hamas. Even if the devil himself brought a plan to end this hell in which we live, I would support it. ”

Palestinian journalist Fathi Sabah said: “A rejection by Hamas, God saved us, meant giving Netanyah the green light to continue the battle with American and Western support, to destroy what's left of Gaza and the central region. ”

The Gaza people can't take this. They are destroyed, exhausted, desperate and hopeless”, he said.

“They want a ceasefire now, not tomorrow, at all costs, even though they know the plan serves Netanyah's interests, is full of traps and does not reflect their aspirations”, he added.

The Israeli Army launched a campaign in Gaza in response to Hamas-led attack on October 7th 2023, in which about 1,200 people were killed and another 251 were taken hostage.

At least 66,097 people have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza since then, according to Hamas-led Ministry of Health and territory.

In August, a UN-backed body confirmed that the famine was occurring in Gaza City. Earlier this month, a UN investigative commission concluded that Israel had committed genocide in Gaza which Israel strongly rejected./Periscopi/
