Trump says he'll meet Xia this year

The American leader made this announcement through his social platform, Truth Social, after having a telephone conversation with Xina. Trump said he will travel to China early next year and expects the Chinese leader to visit the United States as well.

“I just finished a very productive conversation with President Xi of China”, Trump wrote. “We have made progress on many important issues, including trade, phentanilin, of the need for the war between Russia and Ukraine to end and the approval of the agreement on TikTok”, REL reports, Periscopi broadcast.

I also agreed with President Xi that we should meet at the APEC summit in South Korea and that I will visit China in the first part of next year. President Xi will also come to the US at an appropriate time of”, he added.

The US and China have currently suspended operations over trade disputes, which began in April when the two states threatened to impose tariffs at over 100 percent on goods.

In August, Trump signed an executive order to keep this suspension in force until November 10th. Beijing did the same.

Trump and Xi had met several times during the American leader's first presidential term. The two leaders held a face-to-face meeting in Osaka, Japan, in 2019, meanwhile, Xi had gone to Trump's property in Mar-a-Lago in 2017.

As for the call, according to Chinese state media Xinhua, Xi said the US must avoid unilateral trade restrictions so that the outcome of consultations between the two sides is not at stake.

He described the talks as <x0-positive and constructive”.

US and Chinese representatives this week in Madrid, Spain have held the fourth round of negotiations since trade disputes escalated in the spring. /Periscopi
