Today or tomorrow, European leaders will visit the United States to discuss ways to end the war in Ukraine.
The news was confirmed by Donald Trump, quoted by the BBC, who added he would soon speak to Russian President Vladimir Putin while signaling that his administration was ready to pass into a second phase of sanctions against Moscow.
The idea of new sanctions was immediately welcomed by Ukrainian head of state Volodymyr Zelensky, who called on European countries to stop buying Russian energy. These developments come at the time Russia undertook its biggest air raids in Ukraine so far during the war, killing four people and hitting the main government building in Kiev for the first time.
After the attack, during which Russia fired at least 810 drones and 13 rockets towards Ukraine, Trump said that “was not satisfied with the entire situation”. Some European leaders will come to our country on Monday or Tuesday”, Trump said, not mentioning concrete names, broadcasts tch.
Russia has intensified attacks on Ukraine since Trump and Putin held a summit in Alaska last month. Speaking to ABC News, Zelensky recalled that European partners are continuing to buy Russian oil and gas, and that “is not fair”.
Russia has sold some $885 billion (U.S.) of oil and gas since the beginning of Ukraine's full invasion in March 2022, according to the Centre for Energy and Clear Air Research. /Periscope/
