Trump makes one of the most controversial decisions, declares “Antifa” a terrorist organisation

US President Donald Trump has declared that he is defining the extreme left antiphastic movement Antifas as a terrorist organisation, announcing this move on his Social Truth platform in the early hours of Thursday's European era.

It was not immediately clear what mechanism Trump would use to determine, and Antifa has no centralized structure or defined leadership, making it unclear who or exactly will be targeted.

A White House official told CNN: “This is just one of many actions the president will take to address leftist organisations that promote political violence. ”

Trump, who is abroad on an official state visit, signalled the move earlier this week in comments by the Oval Office following the murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.

Many administration officials signalled after Kirk's assassination that they would target what they claimed was a coordinated left-wing effort to incite violence. The movements have triggered protests by some Democrats, who argue that Trump is creating an excuse to crack down on dissidents or opposing views.

It was also not immediately clear what practical effect it would have had on the above - mentioned definition. In his first term, Trump pledged to appoint Antifa as a terrorist organisation, and then Prosecutor General William Barr said her activities constituted domestic “terrorism”.

But Antifas, cutting for anti-fascists, is not a structured group, but a more unclear social movement. And while it is illegal to offer “material support” for government-defined groups as foreign terrorist organisations, there is no analog law for local groups.

The term Antifa is used to describe a wide group of people whose political beliefs tend to run from the left often extreme left but who disagree with the Democratic Party platform, CNN reported. The group has no official leader or headquarters, although groups in countries hold regular meetings.

In addition to defining certain left-wing groups as terrorist organisations, Trump earlier this week also cited the possibility of completing tax exemption status for non-profit liberal organisations, and his attorney general raised the possibility of raising criminal charges against groups or individuals allegedly targeting conservatives.

“Antifa is terrible. There are other groups. We have some very radical groups and they have succeeded in murder,” Trump said on Monday.

Trump also said he had spoken with Prosecutor General Pam Bond about the possibility of raising charges of blackmail against left-wing groups he claimed were funding left-wing officials.

“I asked Pam to investigate him regarding RICO, raising cases RICO. They have to be imprisoned, what they're doing to this country is really subversive,” said Trump. /Periscopi/
