Tuesday's meeting comes in an era of high tensions between NATO and Russia, but also growing threats from China and domestic unrest in the US, follows Periscope.
It was Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth who urgently summoned all generals and the highest Admirals of the American Armed Forces, an unprecedented meeting for decades, organised in short notice, without explanation and outside common protocols.
Hegseth is expected to discuss the need to preserve a “warrior's spirit” throughout the army and can raise other issues during the meeting, which will last about an hour, American officials told Reuters on Friday.
This surprise meeting comes shortly after Hegseth's shocking decisions, including mass dismissals at the Pentagon, a 20% reduction in the number of generals, and a dramatic step that has raised eyebrows everywhere, as the Department of Defence will also be renamed to the War Department.
The United States has troops all over the world, including faraway countries like South Korea, Japan and throughout the Middle East, military forces commanded by generals and Admirals with two, three and four stars. /Periscopi/
