President Vjosa Osmani has comforted the people and leaders of Portugal after the tragic tram accident, where at least 15 people and 18 others were killed. The electric traffic in Lisbon came off track and crashed.
Osmani said that with the heart and solidarity it is with President Marcelo Rebello de Soussa, Prime Minister Luís Montenegro and the people of Portugal, following the tragic accident.
On behalf of the people of the Republic of Kosovo, “expressed my deepest condolences to the families of the victims and wished for quick recovery to the injured. We stay with our Portuguese friends”, Osmani wrote on X.
Since 1885, the historic tram has transported locals and visitors up and down several hundred metres of a steep, cobbled road connecting Restauradore Square, a square commemorating Portugal's independence from Spain, with the Bairo Alto district.
Portuguese SS authorities have discovered the identity of the victims and not their ethnicity, but said foreign citizens are among the dead./Periscopi/
