The Supreme Court of Kosovo has expressed deep concern after the latest statements by Central Election Commission member (KQZ) from the ranks of Vetevendosje Movement, Alban Krasniqi, during the CEC meeting on September 1st 2025.
During the meeting, Krasniqi used insulting language to Supreme Court judges Zenel Lecu, comparing him to Serbian List Chairman Zlatan Elek in an attack the Court considers unacceptable and harmful to the integrity of the justice system.
In its official response, the Supreme Court strongly condemned Krasniqi's statements, stressing that personal attacks and the invention of conspiracy theories for judges constitute an attempt to undermine their image and undermine public confidence in justice.
The Supreme Court strongly condemns this language's unprecedented reaction and considers such statements, apart from being unacceptable, constitute a direct attack on the integrity of a judge and justice system in Kosovo. The launch and comparison of Judge Zenel Lek's name is a low attempt to damage his figure and undermine trust in justice.
The invention of conspiracy theories, labels and efforts to denigration figures of Supreme Court judges in an institution like the CEC, where discretion, clarity and respect are expected, shows a lack of political culture. Kosovo citizens need representatives who respect institutions, not those who try to delegate them, on unequivocal charges”, said in response.
The court's response further states that, in a democratic state, the judiciary guarantees equality and electoral justice until efforts to discredit a judge of the highest judicial instance are harmful and unacceptable to the court, the judge and the whole society.
The Supreme Court, its decisions base them on Constitution and law, and will never be in service of daily policies”, it says further.
Krasniqi's attack came after the Supreme Court's decision to drop the LVV complaint, which called for blocking the Serbian List in the 12 October elections.
Despite calls by CEC chairman Kreshnik Radoniqi to maintain calm and bring facts, Krasniqi continued on charges against Judge Leku, alluding to suspicious interests and links to the Serbian List./Periscopi/
