“I am innocent overall”, Selimi said.
This statement, accused Selimi did after reading the indictment by prosecutor Bekim Kodraliu, reports “The Law Trust for Justice“.
Court Speaker Leon Perska announced the accused and his lawyer Ali Beka that within 30 days they could object to the evidence and apply for the drop of the indictment.
Lawyer Beka proposed that the accused cease the detention measure, arguing that they have ceased the circumstances for which the measure has been established and continued. The lawyer's word was supported by the accused Selimi.
Meanwhile, prosecutor Kodoraliu said that during the implementation of specific investigative measures, it has been confirmed that the defendant has consistently travelled to Serbia's territory. He also mentioned the impunity of criminal acts that are attributed to the accused. So, he said he considers legal conditions to be present for continuing this measure.
Justice Perlasca, on the other hand, decided to refuse the attorney's proposal, as the Court estimates that further on there are conditions on which detention has been established and continued. He also said that in terms of the defendant's security and presence, the court has a ruling in power and assessing the continuation of the move can do it at any time depending on the eventual change of circumstances.
Otherwise, the Constitutional Court in Pristina on April 7th 2025 had scheduled the detention measure for 30 days to Hysri Selimi, under suspicion of spying.
Under the request of the Special Prosecutor of the Republic of Kosovo, which had provided “The Justice and Security Agency of Serbia (known as BIA), it was said that Hysri Selimi was suspected that from the indefinite date until his arrest on May 6th 2025, as recruited by the Agency of Intelligence and Security of Serbia (known as BIA), helped work in the form of this service in the form of collection and the delivery of information concerning radicalised persons and the number of participation in the war in Syria, as well as for senior political officials and security institutions in Kosovo.
In return for this service, the prosecution says BIA officials at meetings in Serbia have paid Selimi up to 700 euros, and have given him wise phones to communicate with BIA officials.
Through these actions, according to the Prosecution, Selimi has seriously jeopardised and damaged the constitutional judicial order and security of the Republic of Kosovo.
Therefore, for these actions, Hysri Selimi is charged with criminal work “Spying” by Article 124, paragraph 3 of the Republic of Kosovo Penal Code. /Periscope/
