South Korea has concluded talks with the US on the release of Korean workers who were detained in Georgia, a presidency official confirmed on Sunday.
According to Kang Hung-sik, Chief of Presidency Staff, a plane will travel to bring in workers once administrative procedures are complete.
This development came after a raid conducted this week at a Hyundai Motor production plant in Georgia, where US federal agents conducted a major investigative operation. Most of the detainees were Korean citizens.
This incident occurred after a major trade agreement between South Korea and the United States, involving a $350 billion fund to support Korean companies on the American market.
It was also reported that US President Donald Trump can visit South Korea in October for the Asia-Peaceful Economic Co-operation Summit. South Korean officials said they would seek ways to improve the visa system for Korean workers travelling to the US to prevent similar incidents in the future. /Periscope/
