One of the main topics was the lack of textbooks, a problem that is being repeated this year. Mayors of municipal levels reported that the situation is more pronounced in the V class IUIX, where there is a shortage of books due to differences in the number of students compared to last year, while submitted texts are often damaged and almost useless.
Another important point was concern over the non-formation of the Kosovo Assembly and Government. The Steering Council estimated that long delays are undermining the education process and resolving the demands of education workers. It was agreed that once the Government is formed, the SBASK will start dialogue on addressing past-time membership requirements”.
If there is no readiness for concrete dialogue and results, the SBASK said it would launch union action, not excluding even the general strike.
“Also, the Steering Council made a unanimous decision that leaders of the Union Associations, who compete in the October 12th municipal elections, resign from union positions or against them to take the decision to dismissal by the end of the election process. At the end of the meeting, other topics linked to the organization and operation of the union” were discussed.
