“I'm ready to leave the presidential post.

Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelensky, plans to leave the post after the war ends with Russia. If we end the war with the Russians, yes, then I'm prepared not to run, because the elections are not my target”, Zelensky said in an interview for the American news portal Axios. “I desperately wanted to be with the country [...]
I desperately wanted to be with my country, to help my country in a very difficult time. My goal is to end the fight” Zelensky said he would seek the Ukrainian parliament to organise elections once a ceasefire is reached, writes A2 CNN.
Presidential elections scheduled for 2024 were suspended under military law, which was introduced in Ukraine after the start of the Russian occupation in February 2022. Former Colonel Zelensky was elected head of state in 2019. As a result, Russia has repeatedly questioned Zelensky's legitimacy as president.
However, during more than three and a half years of war, Zelensky has maintained a very high level of public confidence. A poll conducted in early September by Kiev's International Sociology Institute found that about 59 per cent of Ukrainians trust Zelensky. About 34 per cent of respondents did not trust him.
During the interview, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has threatened Russia with further attacks. Zelensky told US news portal Axio that he has the clear support of US President Donald Trump in attacking such targets as energy infrastructure and defence factories.
If they attack our power supply, President Trump supports our ability to counter their energy supply”, Zelensky said. Trump said the same thing about drone factories and missile sites, even though they are well protected, Zelensky added.
Ukrainian leader stressed that his country would not attack civilians because “we are not terrorists”. However, he implied that Kremlin employees may be targeted. “They need to know where the” bomb shelters are, he said. “They need them. If they don't finish the war, they're definitely gonna need them”. Ukraine will respond to Russian attacks. /Periscope/
