It through a Facebook post, has said that “the Government's operation on the run for the next four years (2026-2029) of 920m euros for defence is 1,7% of GDP, which is well below the necessary minimum of 4% of GDP, which is the criteria set by NATO and US, and of course necessary for Kosovo that aspires to be a NATO member<1>.

Security today has become a global challenge. The number of countries that have raised the budget for security has marked economic growth in the past two years. The requirements for states to have the minimum limit for protection of 4% of GDP, not only are they reasonable but necessary.
Neither should Kosovo make exemption from this rule. The outgoing Government project for the next four years (2026-2029) of 920m euros for defence is 1,7% of GDP, which is well below the necessary minimum of 4% of GDP, which is the criterion set by NATO and the US and of course necessary even for Kosovo, which aspires to be a NATO member.
Kosovo, although in the initial stages of defence investments, should accelerate the step in meeting this criterion, because our security and NATO membership remain our strategic goal.
