From early youth, Zenelay was noted for his political and national commitment. He was the founder and part of the first Albanian Party in the diaspora, actively contributing to promote Albanian rights and national cause, especially during his activities in Germany.
On April 14, 1981, Zenelaj fell victim to an assassination organised by the Yugoslav secret service (UDB) in Frankfurt. He was severely injured and disabled for life, but his survival and devotion to the national cause made him a symbol of resistance and sacrifice.
Rasim Zenelaj remained a inspiring figure for younger generations and a living witness to the history of Albanian resistance, leaving behind a moral and historical heritage that will always be remembered.
His burial will take place at 05.09,2025, at 6:00, at the new cemetery in the village of Obranca. /Periscope
