This event has its own symbol after almost entering the final phase of the election process, which we have been preparing since June. The elections are the foundation of a democracy because through them citizens express political will by selecting representatives at the central and local level. In this direction, the CEC is tasked with particular importance, ensuring electoral processes in Kosovo to be free, fair, transparent, based on the Constitution, the Law for Elections and based on better international standards”, he said ahead to those present at the event.
He said that since mid-June, the CEC has committed intensively to organising these elections and that activities are being realised on schedule.
“Today we are in an important phase of the election process, because following the withdrawal of the lots, the CEC will approve the design for the content of the balloting to enable the launch of mail voting for over 46 thousand voters outside Kosovo from September 17th. Today's activity also paves the way for political subjects and their candidates since 13 September to officially launch the VMROx1> election campaign, he added further.
Radoniqi, as CEC leader, has called on all political subjects and candidates to engage in an election process by respecting election laws and regulations in power.
The elections are not only a race for power, but also an important process for democracy. I appreciate that each of us has the responsibility to manage this process”, Radoniqi said.
Meanwhile, spokesman Valmir Elez indicated, in advance, that for the 12 October local elections, 93 political subjects are certified from which: 32 political parties, 2 coalitions, 32 civic initiatives and 27 independent candidates.
The general number of candidates, representing these political subjects, is 5,626 candidates, out of whom 206 candidates for the mayors of the municipalities and 5,420 for members of the Communist countries”, he said. /Periscopi
