The prosecution seeks detention for a Special Unit member in Mitrovica suspected of four criminal acts

The Randa Department for Crime has called for the appointment of the detention measure against initial defendants M.L., a member of the Special Operations Police Unit in Mitrovica.

He is being investigated for involvement in four criminal acts, including abuse of office, discovery of official secrecy, unauthorized possession of weapons, and use of weapons or dangerous means.

According to the prosecution, on September 2nd 2025, in the village of Ropica in Vushtrri, suspect M.L., exploiting his authority as police official, illegally intervened by taking another person from his residence and moving him towards Pristina. It is alleged that the action has been done on purpose of personal gain and the profit of wealth for third parties.

Also, according to the investigation, on June 18, 2025, the same police official has communicated with the same person over the phone and informed him of a possible investigation into it, violating office and revealing sensitive official information.

The prosecution also suggests that bullets have been found at the defendant's home in Vushtrri, while on another occasion, at a nightclub, M.L. He allegedly fired seven to eight times, and another day three times. The images of these shootings have been published on social networks, while possession and use of weapons have been made contrary to the Law on Weapons.

During last night's raid on the suspect's house and car, police have seized two phones and a quantity of bullets.

The detention hearing for the defendant M.L. will be held near the Foundation Court in Mitrovica.
