An alarm was issued, which lasted about two hours before it was canceled.
Polish planes and allies settled for a short time in a “preventative operation in Poland's airspace on Saturday afternoon due to a threat of intimidation attacks in neighbouring parts of Ukraine, authorities said. An alarm was issued, which lasted about two hours before it was canceled.
The airport in the eastern town of Lublin was closed at the time of alarm, Reuters writes.
The incident occurred after Russian fears crossed into Polish airspace Wednesday, which NATO warplanes hit later, as concerns mount over Ukraine's continuing invasion of Russia, which started in February 2022.
Warnings were issued for five counties in the Voivodeship of Lublin. The warnings, which were published in an X post, read: “Air attack threat. Be careful. Follow service instructions. Wait for further notice. ”
Because of the threat from Russian drones operating over Ukraine near the border with Poland, preventative air operations such as Polish and Allies have begun in our airspace. Land-based air defence systems have reached a higher alert situation”, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk wrote in his post.
Tusk later wrote a post saying: “Nivel of the threat was canceled. Thank you, all involved in air and land surgery. We remain vigilant”. /Periscope/
