Palestinian state recognition from Britain, Canada and Australia, Reagon Hamas: Victory for Citizens' Rights

The recognition of Palestinian citizenship by Great Britain, Canada and Australia has been hailed as a milestone by Palestinian and Hamas officials.

Mahmoud Mardawi, a senior Hamas official, has considered this step a <x0-winner for Palestinian rights and justice of the Palestinian cause”, stressing that this is a testimony to the force and legitimacy of the requirements for an independent state.

Mardawi has added that this recognition “delivers a clear message” that, despite the intensifying of the invasion and possible crimes committed during his period, this invasion cannot wipe out Palestinian national rights.

This is a moral and political victory for Palestinians, and a step closer to realising our aspirations for an independent state and our internationally recognised rights,” Mardawi said.

Great Britain, Canada and Australia are highly influential international states and are traditionally considered Israel's close allies. However, the move is a notable change in the countries' attitudes towards the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. /Periscope/
