Osmani has started her visit to the United States on September 21st, where she was hosted by the exile in Waterbury, Connecticut.
Two days ago, the country's president also gave an interview for Fox Nea, where she said the US administration has done good work in preventing the escalation of the situation between Kosovo and Serbia, but stressed that Belgrade poses an ongoing threat to Pristina.
Osmani was asked whether Kosovo and Serbia were on the verge of a conflict in June. Osmani said Kosovo's northern neighbour of “prefers to cause problems occasionally”.
She said Serbia in the past, when led by Slobodan Milosevic, was responsible for a series of conflicts, but even now, according to her, there are still people in Serbia's leadership who like to get caught behind the past and send us all back to the past, as we want to look to the future”.
During yesterday's day, Osmani announced that a “container conversation with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has been held in the margins of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
“With Secretary Rubio, a binding conversation last night under the reception organised by [American] President Donald] Trump”, Osmani wrote on Facebook without providing further details about this meeting.
Osman's meeting with Rubio comes after reports between Kosovo and the United States suffered a blow earlier in September. Washington announced on 12 September the suspension of the planned Strategic Dialogue due to Kosovo's acting government's actions, which it said have raised tensions and instability in the country.
In addition to Osman, Prime Minister Kurti is staying in the US. The announcement was made known today, the Office of the Prime Minister, where it was stressed that Kurti will hold bilateral meetings with leaders under the 80th Summit Week of the United Nations General Assembly.
The ZKM adds that during its stay, it will also meet members of the Albanian community in the US and representatives of diaspora associations.
