Russian aircraft have violated Norway's airspace in three different cases this year. Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Store has declared this, stressing that these incidents have raised serious security concerns and have raised tensions between Norway and Russia.
The <x0) incidents in Norway are smaller compared to violations against Estonia, Poland and Romania, both from location and in duration. However, there are incidents we take very seriously”, the Norwegian prime minister said.
Store has added that two incidents took place at sea, northeast of Vardo, in April and August, while the third occurred in an uninhabited area along the land border in eastern Finnmark in July. Border violations, including SU-24 aircraft, SU-33 and L410 Turbos, have lasted from one to four minutes.
The prime minister has stressed that Norway has failed to determine whether they were intentional or “caused by error in navigation”. Despite the reason, this is not acceptable, and we have made clear to the Russian authorities”, the Store has clarified. /Periscopi
